Gerda Steiner Monthly digi Challenge.

Nearly forgot to post this months card challenge at Gerda Steiner Designs. The freebie was this cute Pen Pal Bear and since I didn't get the last one in on time making sure this one makes it. I have no one to blame but myself as I leave everything to the last minute. I used copics to colour the bear and then stamped the sentiments from an old Hero Arts set called Thanks for being my Friend onto a scrap piece of white paper in black and red ink. It is no longer available which is a shame as it a lovely set and is a favourite of mine. I punched the top with a SU punch then adhered it to the card base over the PP scraps.  The bear was mounted in the corner with dimensional tape and I added some hearts that I die cut from a really old cuttlebug die. I think it was one of the first I bought when I got my cuttlebug but I can't part with them. Just being sentimental I think as it doesn't get much use. Added some glossy accents to the hearts and the bears nose to finish them off.

Pencil: E40,42,44,R14,17,27.

ACTStamp Artists Card Challenge.

Happy Birthday Humans

I had so much fun playing with my distress oxide inks making galaxy backgrounds for my ATC this month I had to use some to make a card for the card challenge as well. I used the same stampsets from Gerda Steiner designs and I really love the way this birthday card turned out. Coloured the cute little aliens in bright colours with my copics after I masked the centre one then fussy cut them out.  I needed something to ground them so drew the planet freehand, coloured it and adhered it to the bottom of the galaxy panel.  Attached the birthday banner to the green alien with cord and then attached them both with mounting tape to the panel. This was then fixed to a black card base. The  sentiment and banner are also from the alien invasion set.

Green Alien: YG05,07,09.
Pink Alien: RV02,04,06,V000,06,12.
Orange Alien: Y00,YR15,18.
Planet: E000,01,40,41 and brown multi liner.

ACTSA 1-4-1 Artist Trading Card Swap

Hello World

Space ATC

It's that time again and I am early with this months Atc. Normally I am finishing it off on Saturday morning for the afternoon meeting. The topic this month was space and I enjoyed making the galaxy background with distress and oxide inks. Have seen so many on the web etc, but never got around to trying one. The little spaceman and the earth are from Gerda Steiner designs blast off and alien invasion stamps sets, coloured with copics and cut out. The sentiment was computer generated. adhered using mounting tape as was the spaceman. The earth I just used flat tape to adhere so it looks like it is in the background.

Outlawz Monthly Progressive Freebie Challenge

Spread Your Wings.

This month the Image is designed by Mary Smith for Createful Heart Digis and on the Progressive  Freebie team. It is a lovely image and great to colour. I did have to Google hummingbirds as I had no idea what colours they where and there are a lot. I printed two, coloured one with my copics and just the bird on the second image. Used a Spellbinders circle die to cut it out and then placed a die from Kaiser called circle vines over the top and trimmed it to fit. I made sure the bud and the bird tail were not cut cut so they could hang over the die to give it some dimension. Added the second bird with mounting tape after I fussy cut it out, fixed to a purple card base
and a nice clean and simple card to add to my stash.

All Dressed up Guest DT spot

I won.

I know it's a random draw but still very excited to be a winner on All Dressed up Challenge 66.This is the second time as I was one of the top three for Challenge 65 and I think I am still pinching myself. I just love making cards and by entering challenges it pushes me to think out side the box. I guess we all get stuck in a rut occasionally so having to make something different is fun. I have used one of the digis I won called Autumn Girl as we are enjoying some lovely Autumn weather down here in Australia after a very hot summer. First I coloured a panel with Oxide distress inks in Autumn tones, used some of it to stamped some leaves from the SU Gently Falling set and cut them out. The rest I used to adhere the printed image too. She was coloured with copics then cut out using a stitched die from Simon Says stamps and this was then matted to a green piece of card for some contrast and on to a pale grey card base.

Playing with Distress Oxide Inks

Oxide Backgrounds

Take a Walk on the Wild side.

Have been playing around with the new Oxide inks from Tim Holtz and I thought I should make some cards with some of the backgrounds I made. I am really happy with the way they blend and you can keep on adding more and more colour and they don't turn to mud. Fantastic. On the first card the background was just blended on, sprayed some water and then stamped the cheetah from Darkroom Door Wild Africa Vol 2 set. The sentiment is from the Wild Africa Vol 1 set.

This next background was done by pressing different coloured ink pads onto my non stick mat, adding water with a spray bottle and pushing the card into it and moving it slightly. Dried with my heat gun, added different colours to the mat, sprayed with water and smooshed again. You can do it again and again until you are happy with it. Flicked some water for a some for more texture. The elephant is from the Wild Africa Vol 3 set. Added some dots to the ground from an old SU set called Itty Bitty Backgrounds. The elephant was stamped twice, once on the card and then on some scrap paper and fussy cut and added to the card. Used Pumice stone distress ink to colour him and used a Prisma dark grey pencil for some shading.

Artist Trading Card for swap at Monthly ACT stamp Association

Sew Cute

I cant believe it's nearly the end of month; this year is just flying bye way too fast for me. That means it's time for my stamp group meeting and I have left my ATC to the last minute as usual.
This month the topic for the ATC swap is texiles so any thing like sewing, ribbons lace dressmaking. etc. I dug out an old MFT stamp set called Sew Niffty and one from Technique Tuesday called Borderline Notions.
First I stamped the dressmakers dummy from MFT sew niffty on a piece of card 4 x 3 ins then two more times, one on PP and the other on scrap paper for a mask. I coloured the card with four new Tim Holtz Oxide distress inks from Ranger.
Placed the mask and stamped the sewing notions from Technique Tuesday till I was happy with it. Cut just the top from PP, glued it down, then made a pleated skirt from a scrap of light purple PP. I wrapped some ribbon around the top and adhered it to the dressmakers dummy. I used copics to give it some shading and added Ranger black enamel to the top neckline to look like pearls.
Stamped the buttons again, coloured them, cut them and attached some with glue and some with mounting tape. Added glossy accents for some shine.
The sentiment was stamped with versamark, added white embossing powder and heat set. then attached with mounting tape.
Cut panel to fit on a 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 ins black card matt and all finished.

Oxide Distress Inks: Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Worn Lipstick & Wilted Violet.
Copics: V06,09,Y02,06,38.

Colouring with my Prisma Pencils

Haven't played with my pencils for awhile and as I have been trying to use more of what I have decided to use them on this scene. In hind sight I should have gone with something a little less complicated. I like doing scenes but usually not with prismas and I think I need to get them out more often as they are so different to other mediums. I masked the dancing girl stamp from Stampin' ups  Beautiful You so it looks like she is dancing in the street scene from Mediterranean Moments. The sentiment is from the High Tide set, also by Stampin' up but I masked off part of it and used my Misti to stamp just the parts I wanted.

Playing with New Oxide Distress Ink

The Lighthouse

Have been having a break the last few weeks but had to try out the new oxide distress inks that I received last week. They are fun to use and different to the ordinary distress inks especially on backgrounds. I have quite a collection made so will have to make some more cards. This is my first card using them. It is a ocean scene using the High Tide set from SU.

I stamped the lighthouse twice, one on the card and the other for a mask. Punched a circle for the sun, Masked of the lighthouse, water and sun just played with the inks. When I was happy with the sky I tore some paper and did the coastline though it also looks like low clouds. Removed the water mask stamped the rocks, stamped over them with versamark ink and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder. Leaving the lighthouse mask in place sponged the water and added the waves, birds.and light. The sun looked too white so added some pale yellow ink and all it heeded was a sentiment. I couldn't find one I liked so computer generated one. Love the way it turned out.

Di's Digi Designs Challenge

Happy Birthday

My second post today and thought I would enter this card as well into Di's Digi Design challenge as it does have two dies on it.
I have been playing with watercolouring the last couple of weeks and have never tried to colour a no line image so decided it was about time. I used this daffodil dance stamp from Penny Black and stamped it with Antique Linen. Next I just picked some distress inks, smudged them onto a piece of acetate, sprayed them with clean water and started painting. Used a No. 2 and 6 round brush for most of it and a really fine No. 0 for some highlights. Think I will have to try this again. The square die is by Docraft from their ornate frame nesting die set and the tag is called Maviensis from the Hearts Ease Collection by Couture Creations. Added some bakers twine, happy birthday from Darkroom Doors birthday set and used some PP from Basicgrey's Picadilly 6 x 6 collection.

I normally list my colour choices but cleaned up and forgot to write them down.
I used an old Creative Memories fine tipped blue pen for the faux stitching.

I am going to enter this into Di's Digi designs challenge Dies and/or punches.

Di's Digi Designs Challenge

You Are Very Special

The latest challenge this fortnight on Di's Digi Designs blog is to use die cuts and/or punches and I must say I don't use mine often enough. There was a time where I used them on nearly every card so it was fun to revisit some old favourites. Have used four on my card all from Spellbinders. Two from the curved borders two set, one from the small circle set and matched it with one from their petite scalloped circle set. I cut the curved borders, adhered them to a piece of Picadilly PP from Basic Grey that was then adhered to a blue card base. After colouring my image with copics I cut it out and matted it with the scalloped blue circle. White embossed the sentiment in my misti so I could curve it to match. It is from an old heroarts set called Live and Laugh that I use often.

Less is MoreChallenge #317

Cherish the simple Pleasures

Pulled out an old stamp set from Gina K called Spring has Sprung and picked this cute duck sailing away to colour. We are heading for cooler weather while you are into spring so it seemed the perfect image  to use. I am still having fun with watercolour but used my new Zig clean colour brush markers. They are different to work with but used a hot pressed watercolour paper that is smoother and I seem to be getting the hang of it. I guess it just needs more practise.  The image is cut with a spellbinders circle die and the waves are a stencil from Simon says stamps. I made the sentiment in Photoshop as I wanted it to follow the curve of the waves then hand cut it out in a banner shape.

I am entering it in the challenge below.

AAA Cards Cas Challenge

Have a Fabulous Birthday

I have been messing around with watercolours so this challenge fits right in. The stamp is from Penny black called Divine and was such fun to colour. I heat embossed the image with white embossing powder and then just had played with different colours. Used a paint set I bought from my local Hot Dollar store ages ago and though they are not the greatest I had fun. Watercolouring is fun as you do not want it to be perfect and I love the patterns the paint creates. Different every time. The sentiment is from Stampin' ups Thoughtful Banners set. It is great for making up your own sayings as the words are all separate. I white embossed it on black card to give the card some contrast.

I am entering the card into the Cas Game #84 Watercolour challenge.
I am also adding it to Uniko Studio Happy 5th Birthday party Link.

Crazy4Challenges - C4C374

Decided the next card I made I would not use copics so dragged out my watercolours. Found a small  set that I bought at a cheap dollar store that I had never used and gave them a whirl. It was great for backgrounds but not for detailed images but I couldn't waste them so here is the card I made with one of the backgrounds.
The challenge at crazy for challenges this week is to use your words and this is my take on it. We have had a long hot summer and this backgound sums it up. I stamped the wheat background stamp from Heroarts with versamark on the coloured panel and white heat embossed it. I die cut the word thanks three times from black and white card and layered them up. Cut the thanks out of the panel, adhered the panel to a black card matt and then glued in the thanks, slightly off setting it to give it a shadow.  Added 3 butterflies, used a Martha Stewart, and then adhered it to pale green card base.
I look at the card and it screams, long hot summer.

A Cuddle makes it Better.

The girl and her dog is such a cute image and I know a dear friend will appreciate it as she has been feeling down after losing her beloved pet. Kept the card simple by making the image the centre piece with no other embellishments. Coloured it with copics, adhered it to a simple blue cardstock matt then onto a white card base and all done.

Addicted to Stamps Challenge 142

1920's Chic

The challenge at Addicted to stamps this fortnight is to use a number and this is my entry. This very chic lady is from a Darkroom door set titled 1920's Chic and I die cut the numbers with an old cuttle bug set and made them a focal point. Coloured the image with copics, fussy cut it out and adhered her over another stamp from the same set. I stamped the words twice with memento London Fog ink as I wanted them to be in the background.

Your next stamp Challenge #58

The latest challenge over on Your Next Stamp blog is a sketch or colour challenge. I decided to combine them both as I like the chosen colours. When I remodeled my craft room I found a container with a pile of printed and stamped images that I cant even remember doing. This rose was one I picked out to colour and thought it would be great in the challenge colours. I have no idea the artists name or company where it came from, so if anyone knows I would be grateful if the can let me know so I can give them credit.
I used my new Zig brush markers and think I need to play alot more with them but am happy with my fist try. The patterned papers are bits left over from my scrapbooking days ( I don't throw anything away) and they match perfectly. The sentiment is from Polkadoodles that I rearranged to fit.

These are the colours and sketch for the challenge.

Di's Digi Designs Challenge

Just for You.

The challenge this week at Di's digi challenge blog is to include an animal and I just love this cute mouse with the adoring look.
I went for copics to colour him and kept the card uncluttered to show him off. Went with a pink cardstock for the image backing and the same colour for the card base. The PP is and old piece from Kaiser and I added pink ribbon and bow to give it some dimension.

Mouse: E01,W0,1,3,5.
Flowers: B0000,000,00,01.
Leanes and Stems: YG17,21,23.

Added some glossy accents to the flower centres and clear wink of stella to the bow.

Gerda Steiner Designs Monthly Challenge

When Life Gives You Lemons

I can't believe the month has just about gone. Time flies bye so fast and I never seem to get all the things I want to do done. Being a short month doesn't help but I did get this months challenge finished.
The freebie is this adorable piggy  (still time to play) making a real mess of himself. I coloured him with my copics, cut the image out with a die from Simon says Stamps and then had fun adding the chocolate bars around him. I found the bar on google, made it the size I wanted then printed and cut them out. The sentiment is an old freebie from I thought was perfect for this as I don't do Valentines day cards.
My hubby and I have never celebrated just one day as we felt it should be something that you do anytime. It seems to have worked for us as we have managed to last the last 48 Yrs. He still surprises me often and I love doing the same. Makes it a lot more fun.

Less is More Alphabet 316

G'day from Sydney

There is a new challenge up at Less is More and it's all about the alphabet. I have had a small background stamp from Hampton Art by 7gypsies that I have never used and thought this challenge would be the perfect time to ink it up.  First I stamped the Sydney Opera House from Darkroom Door onto a piece of white cardstock, stamped it again on masking paper and cut it out. Placed the mask over the image, stamped the cities of the world background using my Misti to make sure I had a good impression. I then stamped the g'day from the same Darkroom Door set and attached it to a black card base. Was going to just have it all white but I think I like the contrast of the black.
This must be the first card in months I have not coloured  my image and I glad I tried something different.

Actsa MonthlyTrading Card Swap

One Wild Ride.

It's our monthly stamp group meeting and the ATC challenge is wood/ metal  etc. As I had just finished a card for the crazy4challenges this week using a motorbike I decided to use the same theme for my ATC. A Harley is a large mass of metal and I placed it on a wooden backdrop so really covered all the bases. The stamp, sentiment and tyre tread are from SU's one wild ride set and I stamped them onto the Kaiser wood patterned background. I lightly stamped a Kaiser wood grain stamp over the PP for some more texture. Added two metal brads to the sentiment and sponged some black ink around it and the image then adhered it to the ATC with dimensional tape.

Crazy4Challenges - C4C373

Born to be Wild

This week the challenge is a sketch and for me it's not something I use very often. I usually stamp or print my image, colour it and then just wing it. Most times it works but I confess it makes for some chopping and changing that takes time. This was for me a fast card and I maybe should do them more often. The image is from Just Inked Lined and as my DH has a Harley I make lots of bikie cards. I coloured it with copics and then fussy cut it, adhered it to a piece of Kaiser PP from their Base Coat range. The sentiment I heard of years ago and use it often as my Hubby
says that sums up what it feels like to ride. Born to be wild is from the same set. Adhered it all to a red card base.

Less is More Challenge 315

Opposites Attract

This challenge had me using my thinking cap as I wanted to make a card that was suitable for a few options. I don't make valentine day cards as we try to send that message through out the year. I guess it works for us as we have been married 48 years and he still surprises me with his little poems and gifts. The card will be a great one for our youngest daughter who is a cat lover. The images are from Angies Stamps called Kitty in Flowers  and Mouse eating Cheese that I played with in photoshop to create this scene. The sentiment was computer generated and the hearts from a set by Gerda Steiner Designs that I think is no longer available. I used copics to colour it up and love the result. It is definately a one layer card. My daughter set up the blog and when I insert the photo it looks fine but when I publish it, it adds a white border. Have no idea how to fix it as I am not the greatest with computers.

Less is More Challenge 314

The Tree of Life

Some-one ask me what is your style the other day and I really had no idea. I tend to make cards of different styles for specific people or a request from some-one. Lately they have been more CAS and I am enjoying the results.  I still struggle a bit doing these cards but the challenges are helping . My first card uses a stamp from Darkroom Door called Trees and the sentiment is from the same set. Used distress inks in blue, green and yellow and stamped the tree over it when it was dry. Used the heat gun as I like the way it moves the colour around and it gives it some nice patterns. Mounted it on a blue card base and one down. The second card is similar but I used green , yellow and orange. The stamp is another Darkroom Door set called Wildflowers Vol 1. They have some lovely sets that are great for this type of card. I adhered the card front to a green piece of cardstock then to a white card base. The cards do look white in real life.

I am entering the Trees into the challenge

Happy Birthday Friend

Poker Face

I saw this stamp at our monthly ACTSA  (ACT Stamp Association) meeting and just had to buy it. One of our members has on-line store and she finds the most amazing stamps for all over the world. We are very limited in Australia compared to US and UK  so I tend to buy online from a few sites that actually get stamps from overseas. I find that the postage some US sites charge stop me from purchasing their products but there are still plenty that are reasonable. My favourites are digis but  I love to buy stamps as well. Some people would say I'm addicted (hubby would be one) but life's to short to worry and I love making cards. The stamp is from Crafter Companion and designed by Kathleen Francour called Poker Face. It is for a dear friends birthday this week. I coloured her with copics and kept it CAS, just stamping the sentiment from the set in the top right corner. Adhered it to a pale yellow card base as I really wanted the image to star.

The Outlawz Monthly Progressive Challenge

Happy Birthday Friend

Two friends share the same birth date this month and I thought the image from Bugaboo would be a perfect birthday card for one of them. I may even do another with the same image. After printing it out I coloured the image with copics and hand drew a border around it before mounting it on an aqua blue card base. Added some tiny hearts, some bling for the flower centres and a happy birthday die sentiment from Elizabeth Craft Designs. A nice quick card.

The Outlawz Tuesday Colour Challenge

When I saw the colours for the Tuesday colour challenge this image just popped into my head. Haven't entered it for awhile but had to use the Old Truck from Darkroom Door and it is an old favourite, especially for male cards. The image was stamped on yellow paper then I used my distress inks to colour it up and then prisma pencils for some definition. The same paper was used for the backing and I tore the edge for some contrast, added some twine before adhering it to a black card base. The sentiment is from a kaiser set called True romance. The title doesn't seem to match masculine cards but love that the sentiments give a tile look.

This was such a quick and easy card to make and I think it matches the colour criteria.

Addicted to Stamps Challenge # 140

The theme for this challenge is Baby It's Cold Outside  and I choose to colour this adorable image from Mo Manning called Chill as she really does look cold. Penny Black has the Stamp and Mo has the Digi. I used copics and didn't add any embellishments as the image just jumps of the page and it really didn't need them. It was adhered to a orange card base just to add an extra touch of colour. The sentiment was printed unto a piece of x-press it blending card then cut to size before I stamped the image.

AAA Cards Cas Challenge #82

Winter Chill

Cabin in the Snow

When I started this card it was 38C and my DH thought it was strange I was making a card about snow, cold and Winter. We have had a very hot summer so far.
Bought a Stampers Anonymous stamp set by Tim Holtz called Holiday Drawings last year and never  managed to make any cards with it for last Christmas but it was perfect for this challenge. I will have quite a few ready for next year as I just love this set. I stamped the image in the bottom right corner and used a sentiment from the same set. Went with my copics to colour the cabin a tried to keep it soft and cold looking. Added some snow with white enamel accents and then left it alone. I think I am finally getting the hang of CAS cards.

Cabin: E001,13,37,71,Y04,17.
Trees: E71,Yg63,67.
Deer: N3,7.
Snow: B0000,000,01, white gel pen.
I used a copic sepia multiliner 0.3 for highlights on the cabin and Fence.

All Dressed Up Challenge 65

Cute Just Got Cuter

Have just re-organized my craft room and catching up with some card making. I will not be doing any changes for a while, if ever as it has taken days to sort and then find things again. Hubby helped to pack it up so we could put more shelves in after the new carpet and he throw things in any box and didn't label any of them. At least I have more work space and he was was a great help.
The card image was a freebie I have had printed out for awhile and it was time I used it.
Have a friends birthday coming up and she has just acquired a new dog so thought this would be a great image for her birthday card. Coloured the image with copics and used a scarp of PP from an old pack from Gina K that I adhered to a aqua card base. Kept it simple and I am looking forward to making more with the box of images I found to colour.

Dog: E000,00,23,25,31,R20.
Bow: BG11,15,49.
Ground: W3,5.
Shadow C0.
Red Fine Tipped Gel Pen was used for the heart.

Your Next Stamp Challenge #56

Sending Joy

Having just discovered your stamps I only have two so far and they are both Christmas ones so I have another card to add to the pile for next Christmas. I stamped the image twice, coloured one and just the mice on the other so I could fizzy cut them and mount them for dimension. Added some glossy accents and clear wink of stella for some pop. Used some spellbinders ovals to cut the image and layer it onto the card. The large piece of PP is from Kaiser Bluebelle 61/2 x61/2 pad and the small strip is a scrap piece from my stash. Added some twine and the sentiment is from the same stamp set. I used copics to colour the image.

Mice: W0,1,3,R12.

Australia Day Thanks

Every Australia Day two lovely friends open there house for their Annual Australia Day get together. It's so much fun with a typical Aussie Barbecue, yummy sweets included, plenty of cool drinks and the quiz. You have to answer 10 multi choice question on Aussie topics (also some about the hosts) but no googling allowed. Tony does not make them easy and his word is final. Just a beaut day to catch up with a great bunch of mates. This is the card I made as thanks to Tony And Venessa for all the hard work they put in to it. The image is made from three digi's from Make it Crafty and coloured with copics. The PP is Kaiser pad Called Base Coat.

Crazy 4 Challenges - C4C369

The Future Looks Rosy

My first time entering this challenge and this was a great one to start with. I had fun playing with the sketch and it's one I will use again. The image used was an old freebie from Penny Black that has to be a least 3 yrs old and found when my DH helped reorganise my craft room. We had to move it all out to lay the new carpet and I decided I needed new shelves. It's amazing what you put away and forget. I coloured the cat with copics and layered in onto some pink cardstock. The pink strip was cut from Spellbinders Curved Boarders Two that was adhered over an old scrap of PP from Rosie's Studio, that was then adhered to a pale grey card base. Added some mounting tape to the image to give it some dimension.

Outlawz Monthly Freebie Progressive Challenge

Butterfly Kisses

Finally have some time and space to get back into crafting. Had new carpet laid so that meant I had to dismantle my craft room and move everything out. Took ages to get it back together and I am still looking for things. At least it is now tidy so hopefully it will stay that way for a while. This month the image is from All Dressed Up and she is gorgeous. Kept the image large and added the sentiment then coloured her with copics. Tried a new hair combo and like the result. The PP is from a Kaiser 61/2 x 61/2 pad called Mademoiselle and I punched 3 butterflies from the same PP and added some copic colour and pearls to them so they would stand out. Added a pearl to the bag for extra bling.

Gerda Steiner Designs Monthly Challenge

Sending Hugs and kisses

I have finally got back into my craft room after new carpet and new shelving. This will be the last overhaul for a long, long time as it took for ever and I am still trying to remember where everything  is. Most is in the same area but some I just had to find a new home for and it always seems to be those items you want. At least I have managed to get back to crafting. Gerda's cute image is a couple of hedgehogs and was going to make a valentines card but made it suitable for any occasion. The image is coloured with copics then cut out with a Spellbinders oval die and then adhered to a brown scalloped oval. The white heart lace die is from Couture Creations and the extra hearts cut with a EK Success punch.Computer generated the sentiment and added glossy accents to the butterflies.

Happy Birthday Friend

Happy Birthday

A friend I have known for 48 years is having a birthday this month and I wanted to make her a special card. She has had a hard time the last three months so hoping this will cheer her up. Anything to do with Japanese culture is her thing and I found this gorgeous image from Little Blue Button called Sweet Geisha Charlie and here is the result. Used Copics to colour her and patterned paper scraps from my stash for the background. The red and orange small flowers were punched from old Carl punches and the large cream one with a Fancy That die. Attached the sentiment with some twine and my Geisha was done.
